Valentina Gomez should be refused entry to the UK

Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK) has today written to the Home Secretary, Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood, urging her to refuse UK entry of far-right activist Valentina Gomez, who is reportedly due to attend and speak at a rally on 16th May 2026 organised by Tommy Robinson.

Ms Gomez has a well-documented track record of inciting hatred against Muslims and other marginalised groups. Her actions have included the public burning of the Qur’an, alongside repeated use of inflammatory and derogatory language demonising Muslims.

Her planned visit to the UK comes at a time when the Government has stated that community cohesion is a national priority. Just last month, the Government endorsed and adopted a new definition of anti-Muslim hostility, which explicitly recognises prejudicial stereotyping of Muslims and actions intended to incite hatred. Ms Gomez’s past conduct and planned rhetoric for the rally clearly fall within this definition.

Baroness Shaista Gohir, CEO of MWNUK said: “Allowing her entry to the UK would undermine the Government’s commitment to keep Muslims safe and risk emboldening far-right extremism and further normalising religious and racial hatred.”

The Home Office has previously demonstrated its willingness to act in the public interest. Most recently, entry was refused to Kanye West (Ye) on the basis that his presence ‘was not conducive to the public good’ due to his history of anti-semitic and hateful rhetoric. This same standard must be applied consistently.

MWNUK calls on the Home Secretary to act decisively and without delay to refuse Ms Gomez entry to the UK in the interests of public safety, community cohesion, and the integrity of the Government’s own commitments.
