Two Asian Hafta Award winners included board members of Muslim Women’s Network UK, Robina Iqbal and Parveen Hassan. Last month, a dazzling awards ceremony profiled the success and contribution of the British Asian community in the UK. The third prestigious British Asian Hafta annual awards dinner took place at the New Bingley Hall in Birmingham.
The judges also identified some of the real success stories by seeking out the gems of the community, not business women or professionals, but women who gave their time willingly to make Asians better citizens of this country. The Special Community Awards given to six gems, women who have achieved not only for themselves but for their communities. The six women awarded were Firdous Hakeem Robina Iqbal, Parminder Kaur, Chanchal Jain, Parkash Kaur and Budhiben Devlia
Parveen Hassan (who is also the Group Equality, Diversity and Community Engagement Manager with the Crown Prosecution Service) was awarded best employee. She joined in 2002. She also chairs the regional Migration Partnership Women’s Issues Group. Parveen has championed community ambassadors to enhance their skills and understanding, in improving their own cultural understanding and challenges in diversity by delivering a tailored programme. She is deserving of this award and her colleagues at CPS wish her every success in all that she does.
The entire evening was filmed by the crew of Brit Asia TV
