Job Description:

Working as part of a small and close-knit team this is a unique opportunity to join a charity where your communication skills will really make a difference to the work we do. You will be responsible for maintaining MWNUK's online presence via its digital channels. This includes the development and enhancement of content for our websites and social media channels as well as contributing to the creation and development of strategic social media campaigns.

MWNUK are seeking a motivated, resourceful and tech-savvy intern who will have the opportunity to craft and execute content for all platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Applicants should have a strong level of experience with these channels, ability to write engaging and economical copy, good organisational skills, and the ability to work as part of a team and independently. You will also be comfortable with long-form writing, communicating to our audience through strategic mailshots. Though training will be given, a good understanding of MWNUK’s work and ethos will be key, as will an awareness of the audience and etiquette on different platforms.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Director to gain an understanding of how and what we communicate to reach our primary audiences (Muslim women and girls).
  • Create, schedule, and publish daily content (combining both original text and images as well as third party text and images) that encourages engagement with MWNUK, highlights the work we do, and builds meaningful connections.
  •  Employ innovative tactics to grow the audiences of each of MWNUK’s social media accounts.
  •  Generate weekly emails to strategically communicate MWNUK’s work to our Members and Mailing List Subscribers.

Personal Specification

  • Demonstrable experience of handling social media accounts.
  • Track record of writing excellent copy.
  • Clear, concise writing style.
  • Have a creative eye for design and video as well as being passionate about creating engaging content.
  •  Must be pro-active, enthusiastic and an excellent communicator.
  • Common sense approach and able to exercise good judgement.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the principles of SEO, analytics, tracking and social media monitoring tools is desirable but not essential.
